Hay won’t bale itself.
Fat’s dirty til it’s soap.
The camera’s on.


In the adolescence of the last century, the teenage French decided that everything was a construct. Quel horreur. Still, constructs are hard. Go smack your head on the Sirius and tell me what “arbitrary” feels like. There’s no opt-out clause in the social contract. No island to maroon yourself for a quick five. We the cultured know that the natural is artificial. Hay won’t bale itself. But if you let it set, the artificial also becomes natural. Fat’s dirty ‘til it’s soap. All that’s solid might come out in the wash, but not without some scrubbing.

Degrees of separation chews on differences, walls, and enclosures. It’s a white card for all of us in the constructing business. Behaviour changes under observation; the bricks go up when the camera’s on. 
But do they ever come down?
